My name is Vishnu, and I am a 4th year PhD candidate in Computer Science at Columbia University.
My research currently focuses on digital media accessibility, especially in the realm of video games. With a particular focus on how gamers
with visual impairments navigate through virtual worlds commonly found in 3D adventure games, I seek to answer the question as to how mainstream video games can be made more accessible
to these players while granting them experiences equivalent to those granted to sighted players. Some
of my published projects include creating NavStick and investigating
spatial awareness tools within video games.
My other experiences have varied widely: From producing other assistive tools during my undergrad in order to help people
with disabilities to co-founding my own startup to streamline academic management. Yet, they all revolve around
the core idea of creating technology that works for and with people, whether in the context of disabilities
or just simple everyday life for anyone.
If you are interested in connecting, feel free to email me or message me on LinkedIn. I am open to new connections!
